With warm Gulf Stream waters and red sand, Firemore Beach offers the warmest swimming on the west coast of Scotland.
Near the River Ewe, famous for salmon fishing, and warmed by the Gulf Stream, the wide, reddish sandy beach is on the shore of a sea loch opposite the tiny Isle of Ewe. Great for swimming and beach activities, there is also a small campsite and picnicking facilities. At the northern end of the beach there is a lovely walk along the coastline of small hamlets, inlets and a harbour to a small settlement called Cove. There is hill walking for every level of rambler and lots of wildlife to spot en route, including long haired Highland Cattle, golden eagles and buzzards.
Glass bottomed boat trips are available around the loch and there is excellent fishing to be had, particularly salmon. There are facilities including a car park, café and public toilets.
