Gairloch is a fantastic place to visit and of course for exploring Wester Ross and the north west Highlands.
Situated on the shore of Loch Gairloch amongst the awe-inspiring scenery of Wester Ross, Gairloch offers a wealth of spectacular scenery and activities for visitors. There are several good sandy beaches in the area, such as the brilliantly-named Big Sand, and at Redpoint, which has lovely views to Raasay, Skye and the Western Isles, an unforgettable sunset across the Minch.
The area has plenty of rocky coastline to explore as well, such as the Rubha Reidh Lighthouse, from where visitors might occasionally see whales offshore, and enjoy a remarkable vista spreading north to the volcanic peaks of Assynt.
At the GALE Centre in Gairloch, visitors can pick up free leaflets and guides on the area. Open year-round, the centre also provides information on the weather forecast, public transport, details of local events and the leisure centre and swimming pool timetables, and also has a shop and exhibition space.
