Towns & Villages

The small village of Garve is situated in a quiet and peaceful area of great natural beauty beside the Black Water River in Ross-shire.

The village is known as the gateway to Ross-shire as it straddles along the main road from Tora, near Inverness, to Ullapool on the west coast of the northern Highlands and is serviced also by the Garve railway station.

This remote place offers great charm and is an idyllic place to make a base for exploring the surrounding Highlands. Active holiday enthusiasts will appreciate the surrounding bleak moorland and impressive peaks, including Ben Wyvis, the Dearg or the Fannichs, which offer challenges for all levels of fitness, and there is also a great variety of other outdoor activities ranging from wildlife spotting, fishing, cycling, golf, or simply admiring the magnificent scenery on a relaxing walk.
