    Glentress Forest is the gateway to the Tweed Valley Forest Park and is located only an hour's drive south of Edinburgh.

    There are more forest trails in Glentress than in any other Tweed Valley forest making it the ideal base from which to explore the Forest Park.

    The area is also famous for its 7stanes mountain biking trails - there are over 50 miles of purpose-built trails here. Glentress also boasts 5 fantastic walking trails, varied wildlife and rich history, both ancient and more recent. There are also options for horse-riding and orienteering.

    Visitors can find out about all there is to see and do at the Tweed Valley Forest Park Gateway at Glentress Peel.

    Facilities at Glentress Peel also include the 200-seat Glentress Peel Cafe, serving a mouth-watering range of snacks and refreshments, Glentress Peel Bikes which offers 150 bikes for hire and a range of bikes and accessories for sale, a Wild Watch centre, toilet, shower and changing facilities and additional car parking. Many of the trails also start from the Peel centre as well.

    Road Directions

    From Edinburgh and the North - take the A702 from Lothianburn junction - Edinburgh City Bypass, then the A703 and A701. Take the B7026/A6094 before Penicuik and at Leadburn, rejoin the A703 to Peebles. From Peebles take the A72 east for 1½ miles. Glentress Peel is on the left.

    From the South - on the A68, follow signs for Melrose and Galashiels. At Galashiels, follow the A72 through Walkerburn and Innerleithen - Glentress Peel is 4.5 miles past Innerleithen on the right.

    On the A7, follow signs for Selkirk, then follow the A707/A72 for 19 miles to Glentress Peel, (4.5 miles past Innerleithen on the right).

    From the West - head north east along the A702. After Biggar, take the A72 for Peebles. From Peebles, head east for 1½ miles; Glentress Peel is on the left.
