Towns & Villages

A small village south of Kelso, Gordon flourished in the 19th century with the coming of the railways.

Gordon is a traditional, rural village to the south west of Duns and the town of Kelso. Situated on a flat area of land with surrounding gently sloping fields, this area was shaped and developed by the increasing road network and the coming of the railways in the 19th century.

Nearby points of interest include the handsome Greenknowe Tower, built in 1581 and Mellerstain House & Garden, a stately home which was completed in 1778. The house was a collaboration project between Robert and William Adam and is set amongst a beautiful estate.
