Kirkmichael is a small village north of Blairgowrie, beside the River Ardle.
The village is an ideal base from which to explore the stunning surrounding countryside of Highland Perthshire. Walking, fishing, golf, horse riding and a host of other outdoor activities are offer in the area while during the winter months, the ski slopes of Glenshee are only a short drive north.
Although tranquil nowadays, the village wasn't always so lucky. In the early 1650s, Cromwell's troops were billeted and fought here, while in the abortive Jacobite rebellion of 1715, clans sympathetic to cause mustered in the village before marching off to join the Old Pretender.
