This sandy stretch of beach on the north shore of the Firth of Tay extends from Barnhill in the west to Barry Sands in the east. Strewn with cockleshells, Monifieth Bay is Site of Special Scientific Interest for wildfowl and wandering birds. From the beach you can walk south and east along Barry Sands to the lighthouse at Buddon Ness. The beach is also a fantastic place to practice outdoor activities such as kitesurfing and windsurfing. Behind the beach are the Blue Seaway Adventure Play Area and a skate park. In recognition of its cleanliness, the excellent quality of its water and top-class facilities, the beach has received a Rural Seaside Award.
