    The quiet village of Muir of Ord, situated near the western boundary of the Black Isle, is ideally placed for touring the Scottish Highlands.

    Situated within the sight of the Cromarty Firth, the village is served by both the main road and railway line heading north and west from the city of Inverness. The Black Isle Show, the second largest agricultural show in Scotland after the Royal Highland Show near Edinburgh, takes place annually just outside the village and includes a food and craft festival, show jumping, flower show and many other events.

    The well-known Glen Ord Distillery, on the north western edge of Muir of Ord, attracts large number of visitors and offers the option of touring the distillery as well as its visitor centre.
