Muthill is a village in the south of Perthshire, which lies south of the town of Crieff.
Muthill is an ancient village which was once the site of a monastery and an important religious centre. Parts of Muthill Church, looked after by Historic Scotland, date back to the 12th century. You can enter the grounds of the church to admire the building.
The village was once burned by the Jacobite Highlanders in the 18th century but was rebuilt as it lay on the route of General Wade’s new military road to the north.
