New Cumnock is a village in East Ayrshire, 35 miles (56 km) north of Dumfries.
Once a mining village, the collieries that once existed here were closed in the 1970s to be replaced by open cast mines.
The village is home to some very attractive buildings and boasts a school, town hall, parish church, railway station, bar and mineworkers’ memorial.
