    Newmachar village sits in the north east of Scotland 10 miles from Aberdeen.

    It lies on the line of the former Formartine and Buchan Railway which was closed in 1979 and to the south of the village is an 18-hole golf course which is noted for being the official golf course of Paul Lawrie at the time he won the 1999 British Open.
