Papa Stour is a small rugged island off the west coast of Mainland Shetland and is popular with walkers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Papa Stour can be reached by plane or on a 45-minute ferry journey. Around 30 people live on the island and for most of them crofting is a way of life. The island’s coastal scenery features stacks, arches, caves and blowholes. Christie’s Hole is a particularly spectacular sea cave.
As well as offering good walking opportunities and plenty of wildlife, Papa Stour has some fascinating archaeological remains.
