The crafting settlement of Scourie sits on the coast in the remote north west of Sutherland and makes a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside.
The area is famous for its remote rugged beauty and is the perfect getaway from the stresses of modern living. The area is easily accessible with good road connections to Inverness and the east coast and presents a unique mixture of mountains, glens and moorland, dotted with countless loch and lochans. There is a range of brown trout fishing available for visitors.
Weather permitting, visitors can get the boat from Scourie to Handa Island, home to vast seabird colonies in the spring and summer. The star attractions are the puffins, present from May to mid-July.
