The small village of Strontian is attractively located on Loch Sunart in the western Highlands where the areas of Ardgour, Sunart and Morvern meet.
The mouth of the Great Glen and island of Mull are also nearby making the town a good base for exploring the surrounding countryside. The unspoilt environment of the Ardnamuchran area is abundant with wildlife, birds, butterflies and fauna particularly, but pine martens and roe deer are regular visitors to Strontian as well.
The village is surrounded by magnificent ancient woods with giant redwoods and the ground carpeted with wild flowers and mosses. Visitors can walk along the meandering paths leading up to the open moor and dropping down to the river valley or take a leisurely stroll along the beautiful shoreline where otters and sea eagles can be easily spotted.
