Towns & Villages

Symington is a conservation village in Ayrshire close to the A77 road from Ayr to Glasgow.

Lying about 3 miles away from Prestwick Airport, this mainly farming community has a primary school, church, library and a restaurant. The church, founded in the 12th century by Simon Loccard, is the oldest functioning church in Ayrshire and one of the finest examples of a Norman church still in existence. Also, in memory of the men of this parish who laid down their lives in World War I and II, there is a War Memorial which stands opposite the village pub called the Wheatsheaf which is highly recommended for a meal.
