Towns & Villages

Wishaw is a town situated 15 miles southeast of Glasgow in Lanarkshire's former industrial heartland.

Wishaw grew rapidly as a result of the Industrial Revolution, supplying coal to fire the furnaces at the steelworks in nearby Motherwell. Those heavy industries have now gone, of course. The town has a sports centre that features a pool, gym and outdoors athletic facilities. Then there is the wildlife haven of Greenhead Moss Community Nature Park. Part of Wishaw’s Main Street follows the line of the old Roman road.
