Auberge Carnish

Restaurant With Rooms

5 Carnish, Uig, Timsgarry, Uig, Isle of Lewis, HS2 9EX

On the west coast of the Outer Hebridean island of Lewis, approximately 38 miles from Stornoway lies Uig - an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Richard and Jo-Ann Leparoux, the original patrons of the acclaimed Bonaventure Restaurant with Rooms in Uig are back in business, opening a new venture.

Located in the sleeply village of Carnish, Auberge Carnish is a purpose-built guesthouse situated on our croft which tumbles down to meet Uig Sands, - do Google Earth us HS2 9EX.

We offer spacious, luxurious, ensuite rooms, all thoughtfully boasting sea views. Our intimate restaurant overlooking the bay will seat around twenty covers and offers a choice of gourmet or a more rustic menu - Bonaventure cultivated a reputation for fine dining; we will build on that using the wealth of produce the island has to offer keeping our menu Franco-Hebridean.

Eat and sleep in luxury at the edge of the Atlantic - unique! Auberge Carnish is situated on our working croft and has a panoramic view over the stunning Uig Sands - it really does have to be seen to be believed with a colour palette more akin to the Caribbean than the Outer Hebrides.

Our accommodation comprises 3 doubles, 1 twin and 1 single - all rooms are luxurious, spacious, and ensuite with fantastic sea/beach views. Rooms also have a flat screen TV and ipod station.

Decor is contempory with a restful colour scheme taken from the outdoors with an emphasis on natural textures - a large double-height entrance introduces a light and airy space. The walls are furnished with local artwork.

Adjoining our intimate restaurant there is a residents lounge complete with woodburning stove, and a decked area outside to enjoy a morning coffee or perhaps an apperitif alfresco - weather permitting! We also have a boot room for you to hang up your kagool and kick off your boots after a long hike in the hills, a stroll on one of our twenty-something beaches fringed by wildflower peppered machair, fishing, surfing, boating, bird watching, photography, drawing or watercolours, "..."... whatever your outdoor pleasure. There are local guide walking tours, boat trips from Miavaig which can take take you out to The Flannans Isles or St. Kilda.

Auberge Carnish aims to offer great food and accommodation in relaxed surroundings with the ever-changing backdrop of a big clear sky, the blue Atlantic waters meeting the peaty Red River and a stunning two mile stretch of white, shell sand peppered with pink shells - all on our doorstep.

We will continue in the same vein as our last venture, which earned us entries in various guides eg.Michelin, Egon Ronay, Scotland The Best and in national press "On Lewis the best restaurant is probably the Bonaventure" (The Observer) where "food celebrates a happy Franco-Caledonian fusion" (Holiday Which).

Auberge Carnish- eat and sleep in luxury at the edge of the Atlantic.
