Whether you’re looking for things to see and do, somewhere to stay or great places to eat, our 5-Star Quality Assurance Scheme is here to help you plan and book the perfect trip to Scotland.

Our reputable grading system assesses businesses according to a set of national quality standards, ensuring that they meet our essential requirements for cleanliness, safety, security, comfort, sustainability and customer care. Each offers a range and quality of services appropriate to one of the following star grades:

  • 1 star: clean and tidy, a fair and acceptable, if basic, standard
  • 2 stars: a good overall standard
  • 3 stars: a very good standard
  • 4 stars: an excellent standard
  • 5 stars: an exceptional standard

You’ll find our star gradings on visitor attractions, tourist shops, activity centres and all types of accommodation, all of which promise great service and a warm welcome upon your arrival.

Green Tourism Business Scheme

Enjoy an eco-friendly holiday in Scotland with the help of the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GBTS).

Now with over 850 members, the GTBS awards visitor attractions, hotels, B&Bs and other accommodation providers that make efforts to reduce their impact on the environment, be it by using low-energy light bulbs, sourcing local produce, promoting cycle hire or more.
