For more great water-based activities, head straight to the sportscotland National Centre Cumbrae, Scotland’s premier watersports centre. Practice your sailing skills at the purpose-built chalet which is just metres from the water, before heading out to the open sea. This state of the art centre also offers dinghy sailing, powerboating, windsurfing and sea kayaking.
For some more adventure, discover the Isle of Arran’s stunning landscapes by gorge walking in hidden waterfalls, plunge pools and natural slides and abseiling rugged peaks with the Arran Adventure Company.
The natural beauty of the coastline, mountains, hills and forests of this region make it a magical destination to explore by foot. If you’re an experienced hillwalker and are looking for a challenge, take a stroll through Arran and tackle the highest peak, Goatfell - where you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with magnificent panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde and surrounding countryside.
For a more relaxed walk, look out for local wildlife and enjoy the scenery along the gentler Arran Coastal Way or the Ayrshire Coastal Path, one of Scotland’s Great Trails.
The National Cycling Network has 50 miles of glorious routes to explore on the mainland. While here, make sure you take in some island cycling - the fantastic 56 mile circular route around Arran lets you uncover many of the wonderfully unique villages along the coast.
