There’s no experience quite like flying. You get the feeling of butterflies in the stomach when you take off, then the rush that comes when you are soaring in the air miles above the land followed by the anticipation of the landing. Once back on solid ground, you’ll probably want to do it all over again.
When in Scotland, why not plan some airborne activity into your trip? There are flying schools in many parts of the country including Dundee, Fife, Ayrshire, Glasgow and Edinburgh where you can take flying lessons and get behind the controls. You can train for your private pilot licence and some airfields offer taster sessions and flight experiences.
From the Highland Aviation Flying School, take flights over Inverness and stunning Loch Ness in a light aircraft, or you can even book a specialist mountain flying course. If you fancy the free flying experience of gliding, why not arrange a trial lesson with the Cairngorm Gliding Club, where will soar across the sky and take in the beauty of the UK’s largest National Park. At the Strathaven Airfield in South Lanarkshire, you can also get mircrolight lessons and trials - a great way to experience flight en plein air.
There are also amazing flight tours which you can simply enjoy and take in bird’s eye views of our sprawling landscapes. Why not experience the Loch Lomond Seaplane, where you will take off and land in water and witness some of unforgettable views.
Take to the skies and see the amazing Scottish scenery as never before !
