With around a hundred golf courses to choose from, Greater Glasgow & The Clyde Valley has the biggest selection of courses in Scotland, ranging from grand parklands to tricky 9-hole golf courses which promise to test all golfing abilities.

With over 150 years of history, Lanark Golf Club offers a challenging round of golf. Renowned for its moorland fairways, fast greens and beautiful scenery, the course is one of Scottish golf’s hidden gems. Open to the elements, and into prevailing winds, Lanark can be tricky for even the most gifted player.

Just twenty minutes from Glasgow, the course at the Earl of Mar Golf Club has spectacular views of the River Clyde and the Kilpatrick Hills. The 18-hole championship course offers a five star golf experience. Having only opened in 2010, the it gives the impression of a well-established course shaped around 250-year-old sweet chestnut and beech trees, with strategically placed bunkers providing a challenge for all abilities throughout your round.

One of the region’s most popular courses, at Drumpellier Golf Club, has 18 holes of undulating fairways and greens. Big hitters can let loose on the long fairways while others can practice their more delicate shots over the course's many obstacles. Other excellent 18-hole courses not to be missed are at Greenock and Gourock, where you can enjoy spectacular views over the Firth of Clyde as you work your way round the course.

For a quicker round, try your hand at one of Greater Glasgow & the Clyde Valley’s many 9-hole courses. The hilly woodland course at Calderbraes includes tight fairways, requiring a deal of skill and planning on approach. The municipal course at Strathclyde Park has some small and tricky greens, while Mearns Castle Golf Club’s 9-hole course allows you to develop your game.

Wherever you choose to play, keep a look out for the Golfers Welcome scheme, which accredits accommodation providers that offer dedicated golf facilities like secure club storage, weather updates and details of local golf suppliers.
