The Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links near Inverness is one of the biggest events on the European Tour and is a key date in the Scottish golfing calendar.
The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open takes place at Castle Stuart Golf Links from July 12 - 15 and as ever has attracted an impressive field of competitors. Some of the world's leading golfers will be in action on the Moray coast with the prize money totalling £2.5m.
World number one Luke Donald is back to defend his title and also playing before the Highland crowds is three-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson and three-time major champion Padraig Harrington.
Louis Oosthuizen, the 2010 Open champion, and fellow South African Ernie Els are also among the stellar cast, as is Ryder Cup regular Miguel Angel Jimenez. Former Open champion Paul Lawrie and Martin Laird lead the home challenge.
The Scottish Open is traditionally staged the week before The Open which this year is being contested at Royal Lytham and St Annes. In 2013 The Open will be back in Scotland at Muirfield in East Lothian.
