Cairngorm Mountain is Scotland’s most popular ski resort and has Scotland’s only funicular railway, while The Lecht in the eastern Cairngorms is Scotland’s most compact ski resort and has the most consistent snow of all the resorts.

Then there’s Glenshee, the largest ski centre in the UK with no less than 36 runs.

Whether you’re skiing on green, blue, red or black runs, all Scotland’s ski centres boast great facilities.

You can receive tuition from a fully qualified instructor and equipment and clothing can be hired on site or from independent ski shops near the resorts.

The Scottish snowsports season typically runs between December and April and you can stay up to date with snow conditions.

Even when there’s no snow you can go skiing in Scotland thanks to the country’s artificial slopes. Snow Factor at Xscape in Glasgow is popular with families and Midlothian Snowsports Centre is home to the UK’s biggest artificial ski slope.

For your skiing holiday you might want to be based in one of Scotland’s key outdoor resorts like Aviemore or Fort William. For families and groups of skiers, self-catering is a good option.
