Attractions in the Kingdom of Fife

Travel through the UK’s longest underwater viewing tunnel, dive with sand tiger sharks, explore the seal sanctuary and witness the beautiful coral reefs at Deep Sea World, Scotland’s national aquarium.

Step into another underwater world of adventure and discovery at St Andrews Aquarium. Get up close and personal with the daily interactive demonstrations such as the seal feeding and rockpool ramble and witness an array of fascinating and dangerous creatures such as black tip reef sharks, poison dart frogs, piranhas, seahorses, lobsters and, don’t forget the meerkats!

For more animal life, check out the Fife Animal Park to witness many wonderful creatures such as parrots, zebras, macaws, short-clawed otters and donkeys. Another fun filled family day out can be spent at the Scottish Deer Centre, home to many different kinds of deer alongside wolves, otters, Highland bulls and Scottish wildcats. 

Did you know that Fife was home to Scotland’s best-kept secret for over 40 years? Hidden beneath an innocent farmhouse in the East Neuk, discover Scotland’s Secret Bunker, a 100 ft underground bunker, the size of two football pitches, one on top of the other! Head down the 150 m entrance tunnel through hermetically sealed, three-ton blast proof doors and uncover how the bunker would have been used in the event of a nuclear war.

Wander around and discover the story of fishing in Fife and Scotland at the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther, a great way to spend an afternoon. There are a number of hands on activities, multimedia displays and exhibitions at the British Golf Museum in St Andrews and at the Earthship Fife Visitor Centre. Set by the beautiful Kinghorn Loch and the first of its kind in the UK, the Earthship is an excellent self sustaining educational and research visitor centre.
