Loch Lomond, The Trossachs, Stirling & Forth Valley has an important history, particularly around the Scottish fighters of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. Due to this colourful history, there are plenty of historic attractions for you to visit, from castles and monuments to museums and historic houses.
The city of Stirling is home to Stirling Castle, which has been restored to its mid-16th century glory, the Stirling Bridge, rebuilt near the site of William Wallace's historic victory, and the nearby National Wallace Monument, which commemorates the man. Bannockburn battle site is an atmospheric place which will have a new state-of-the-art visitor centre in 2014.
Step inside Dollar Museum, an early 19th century woollen mill, now dedicated to the history and heritage of this quaint town, or visit the UNNESCO World Heritage Site, Antonine Wall remains in Callendar Park.
