Many sporting events can be discovered in the region, such as the Isle of Jura Fell Race, one of the toughest challenges in British hill racing.

July is an excellent time of year to discover the region’s classical music roots, with Cantilena attracting world-class performers to Islay, while the small island of Easdale hosts the World Stone Skimming Championship in September. Highland games abound here with unusual settings, including the games at Inveraray in July and the world’s largest Highland games can be experienced at the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon in August.
