Home to the Wickerman Festival, Spring Fling, the RSAC Scottish Rally and the Wild Spring Festival, Dumfries & Galloway boasts a wonderful variety of events and festivals throughout the year.

Whether you’re interested in arts and crafts, music, walking or wildlife, Dumfries & Galloway will no doubt host an event that takes your fancy. The Scottish Snowdrop Festival signals the end of the winter months and the region, which boasts many highly acclaimed gardens and woodlands, becomes awash with magnificent snowdrops.

Continue your exploration of the great outdoors at the Wild Spring Festival. Running throughout April, choose from around 100 events including red deer tours, badger watching and a whole host of family activities.

Make the most of this beautiful part of the world by exploring the countryside on foot at the Newton Stewart Walking Festival in May, which holds a series of guided walks that are suitable for all ages and abilities.

The month of May is also a time to celebrate the buzzing arts and culture scene in Dumfries & Galloway. The Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival puts on a wide range of activities throughout the region. You’ll find classical, jazz and folk music, alongside children’s events, theatre and dance. At Spring Fling you can speak to artists, tour their studios and attend workshops and special events as you uncover around 80 arts and craft studios.

In June, you can enjoy the Kirkcudbright Jazz Festival, which celebrates New Orleans, Dixieland and swing jazz and features UK and international artists. Also this month, the exciting RSAC Scottish Rally welcomes drivers from across Europe to take part in the high-speed special forest stages.

If you want to see bands such as Scissor Sisters, Texas, Kassidy and The View, then the Wickerman Festival in July is the place to be. This innovative and family-friendly event is partly themed around the famous-cult movie and offers two days of glorious entertainment on a charming farm near Kirkcudbright.

In September you can enjoy a wide selection of music at the Lockerbie Jazz Festival, while the Wigtown Book Festival, running from the end of September until early October, sees authors, performers and audience members from all over arrive in Wigtown.
