Every year the city of Glasgow is home to a variety of stunning events from Celtic music and visual art to comedy and 2012 will even bring Olympic football. The Clyde Valley also has a number of one-day events and festivals, including the much-loved classic Highland games.
Events in Glasgow and the Clyde Valley run right from the start of January with Celtic Connections and international curling at Braehead through to the end of December when the city declares to the world - Glasgow Loves Christmas.
February sees three Glasgow festivals cover all genres of film, while in March you can enjoy the best of Scottish and international writers at Aye Write! or laugh yourself silly at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
The Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art takes place across the city from 20 April to 7 May and is a perfect way to take part in the Year of Creative Scotland 2012.
Discover music, theatre and dance at the West End Festival in June or enjoy an exciting programme of unique and innovative performances, including world premieres, at the Merchant City Festival in July.
This year, eight exciting Olympic football matches took place at Hampden as London held the 2012 Olympics. This same stadium will hold the athletic events and closing ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
