Celebrate Scotland’s unique culture by attending one of the many heritage and outdoor events held in Argyll & The Isles.

From an exhilarating time spent at guided natural history walks to the vibrant Highland games with traditional music and dance, soak up the exciting atmosphere and attend a heritage and outdoor event in Argyll & The Isles.

What better way to experience the outdoors of Argyll & The Isles than by exploring the region’s gorgeous islands by foot? Take part in Walk Islay, a week-long walking festival in April which takes in scenic locations throughout Islay, Jura and Colonsay.

Highland games abound here with unusual settings, including the games at Inveraray in July, held with the backdrop of the magnificent castle. This is a fantastic opportunity to watch traditional dancing, heavy athletics contests, pipe band displays and much more. One of the world’s largest Highland games can be experienced at the Cowal Highland Gathering in August.

A sporting event with a difference - the World Stone Skimming Championships - takes place annually near Oban in September. Attracting more than 300 participants and many spectator
