Join in with a unique celebration in 2014 as Scotland commemorates 700 years since the famous Battle of Bannockburn, which took place near the city of Stirling. Bannockburn Live will take place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June.

Over the weekend there will be battle re-enactments so you can experience 14th century combat and get a real sense of what happened during this fateful battle. See the legendary figures of Robert the Bruce and Edward II of England brought to life as they lead their armies into battle.

It will be the largest ever re-enactment to take place on this historical site and you can stroll around historical clan villages, try Scottish food and drink and enjoy a packed programme of musical, literary, crafts and outdoor events. Why not have a go at the ancient sport archery, or a try a few of the events which you would find in a traditional highland games?

As well as this great event, you can also check out a brand new interactive visitor attraction, the Battle of Bannockburn. At this state-of-the-art visitor centre, which is due to open in March 2014, you can discover the history of Bannockburn and the sights and sounds of medieval warfare through innovative 3D technology.
