Ranging from small private day trips and weekend minibus tours to weeklong coach excursions, tours are a great way to make the most of your time in Scotland. Most of Scotland’s cities have sightseeing guided bus trips which provide a whirlwind tour of the city’s main attractions and must-see city sights.
Boat trips
Taking relaxing boats trips along canals, across a loch or out at sea is a great way to see Scotland’s stunning scenery and get close to nature. Book a day trip to the islands to get close to birds and marine wildlife or enjoy longer tours, which can range from a leisurely self-catering boat holiday along a canal to luxury hotel barges and boats.
Steam trains
Children and adults alike love taking a ride on a traditional steam, or vintage diesel train, which both offer an exciting window into the past and is a great way to enjoy the scenery. Day outings include steam train trips over the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which was used in the Harry Potter films, and railway attractions such as Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway. Many country parks and farm attractions also have small scale train rides which are great fun during a day out.
