Directory Listing
The Directory Listing allows you to build a high-quality online presentation of your property and the services you offer through:
- A welcome page featuring a full illustrated description of your business
- An image gallery which allows you to display up to 15 images of your business and/or local attractions, with extended text captions to further describe the benefits of your business and locality
- A detailed facilities list page
- A directions page and location map
- For accommodation providers, a page with details of rooms with full scope to display pricing, availability, discounts, etc.
- Graphic representations of all your primary and secondary VisitScotland Quality Assurance awards
- Your own full contact details (address, telephone, fax, e-mail and a hyperlink to your own website if you have one)
By encouraging customers to contact you directly (e.g. to check availability of, or to book, accommodation), the Directory Listing allows you to manage your relationship with your customers personally while still benefiting from the advertising power of Scotland's national consumer tourism website.
Search returns
Directory Listings for accommodation will appear in relevant website search returns on both our complete accommodation directory searches and on accommodation browsing initiated via the regional sections of VisitScotland.com. In line with consumer expectations, they will not feature in 'availability' searches, where customers are looking specifically for available and/or online bookable accommodation.
Booking enquiries from VisitScotland.com
Serviced Accommodation providers (B&Bs/guest houses/hotels/inns, etc.) who selected a Directory Listing will have the following two options regarding booking enquires via VisitScotland.com:
- to 'opt in' to accept bookings which may be offered to them from time to time on an 'on request' basis from the National Booking Contact Centre and the TIC network. If bookings are accepted from these sources then standard VisitScotland.com terms and conditions will apply, including 10% commission on all sales. This option is not currently available to self-catering providers.
- the alternative option of specifying that they do not wish to accept any bookings from the National Booking Contact Centre and the TICs.
