Here's your chance to explore Scotland's attractions like never before - through virtual reality! Navigate your way around an interactive map and visit 3D models of some of Scotland's most iconic locations before taking a 360° tour around each.

Developed during the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design Scotland 2016, this app was a collaborative project between the Scottish academic, technology and tourism sectors. It allows you, wherever you are in the world, to take a virtual tour of iconic tourist attractions in Scotland during the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017.

Using our app

ScotlandVR is available worldwide from the App Store® and on the Google PlayTM store for Apple® and AndroidTM mobile devices. Our app makes use of the latest technology to deliver you with the best experience.

The application is made to run on devices running Android 4.4 and above and for Apple devices it requires iOS 8.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone®, iPad® and iPod touch®. Please note that to use ScotlandVR, your device must have a gyroscope sensor built in.

VR headset compatible

Use a  Google Cardboard virtual reality headset for a fantastic 3D stereoscopic experience.

Mobile phone mode

You can also explore this interactive app without a headset, from your phone screen by using either the gyroscope or swipe functions to move around.
