One of the most celebrated musicals is coming to Scotland for the first time. The award-winning stage production is set to roar into the Edinburgh Playhouse for three months, from 12 October to 18 January 2014, and will be the only Scottish dates in the show’s UK tour.
If there was one musical I would love to see in Scotland this year, it would have to be Disney’s smash-hit production of The Lion King! Four years in the making, the show has all the ingredients for a dazzling visual delight, with hundreds of masks, puppets and more than 700 costumes creating the enchanting backdrop of the Serengeti Plains. It is no wonder it is the biggest musical production ever to tour the UK.
Based on the 1994 animated film, the musical follows the adventures of Simba, a lion cub, as he struggles to accept the responsibility of adulthood and his destined role of King. Director and Co-Designer, Julie Taymore, has done a fantastic job of bringing the story to life with an international cast of over 50 actors, dancers and singers. Get ready to sing along with an infectious sound track of well known songs such as Elton John’s ‘Circle Of Life’ and my personal favorite, ‘Hakuna Matata’.
Tickets are on sale from today and this is sure to be a sell out! So make sure you book early to see this once in a lifetime theatrical experience in Edinburgh!
