A windsurfer’s paradise on the west coast

by October 12, 2012 Leave your thoughts

All eyes will be on the beautiful island of Tiree over the next week as it plays host to the 26th annual Tiree Wave Classic from the 13 – 19th of October.

According to the official Tiree Wave Classic website, the concept for the event was the brainchild of Glaswegian Steve Bisset who assembled a group of the UK’s top sailors to participate in the first major windsurfing competition in Scotland. It didn’t take long for the event to catch on and ever since it has become a mecca for people seeking to test themselves against some of the best windsurfing conditions in the UK.

Participants are split into four categories: professionals, amateurs, masters and women’s and promises to be a high energy week full of intense competition and entertainment for those who are in attendance.

Check out the brief video below on how much fun the participants had in the 2010 edition, or why not learn more about Scotland’s breathtaking west coast and the outdoor activities you can experience in Argyll and the Isles.
