Ashtrees Cottage is set in the rural hamlet of Wester Balgedie, Kinross. It’s a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Walk or cycle around Loch Leven Nature Reserve. Take the boat to Castle Island where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner by her cousin Queen Elizabeth I of England. Relax at the Balgedie Toll Tavern fwith a pint fof beer or bar meal, its only a five-minute walk from the cottage. Have breakfast/lunch at the famous Loch Levens Larder a 10 minute walk from the Cottage. Ashtrees Cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway or a fun packed family break. It offers a peaceful haven allowing you to explore towns and villages around this wonderful area of Scotland.
Ashtrees Cottage is a tastefully renovated former schoolhouse, dating back to 1760, offers high quality self-catering accommodation and all the modern conveniences needed to enhance your holiday experience. The living area is on the first floor which takes advantage of the wonderful views from all the windows over the Lomond Hills, Ochil Hills and Loch Leven. There is a fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. The living room has a wood burning stove, smart TV and Wi-Fi. On the ground floor you will find a utility area with washing machine and sink. In the main downstairs area of the cottage there is a cosy and luxurious bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. Enjoy a restful night’s sleep in the king-sized bed in the master bedroom with high quality linen and in the second bedroom there is bespoke-built adult sized bunk-beds which sleeps two. Cosy up in front of the wood burning stove on cold evening or enjoy a drink in the secluded garden in summer and relax in the Jacuzzi bath after a long day sightseeing, golfing, walking or cycling.

The road through the hamlet is used mainly for access and is very quiet. A short, easy walk will take you to the village of Kinnesswood with a shop, garage, 9 hole golf course and numerous walks and trails. For the more adventurous, a short drive takes you to Kinross on the shores of Loch Leven, there are boat trips around the loch and to Loch Leven Castle, where Mary, Queen of Scots was famously held prisoner in 1567.
Explore the East Neuk of Fife fishing villages, Anstruther, Crail or visit world famous St Andrews which is only 40 minutes by car or perhaps Gleneagles for afternoon tea. Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Perth, Stirling and Glasgow are all within easy reach by car.
