Situated on a real working farm in the heart of our farmland, away from the main farming activity, Cowden Farmhouse offers a bolt hole from the stresses of modern daily life. Able to comfortably accommodate up to 7 guests, (and 1 or 2 clean, well behaved dogs) the house has been thoughtfully decorated and furnished. Designed to be a fun and interesting place, the decor features a myriad of unique and original art, and beautifully upcycled furniture - all the owners own handiwork! Children and adults alike, love discovering all the unusual pieces!
The securely fenced, mature gardens encompass wooded areas, lawns, and relaxing sun traps! The summer house, with it’s extensive area of decking, is home to a large Weber barbecue, a fire pit, several hammocks, outdoor dining furniture and sun loungers.
The house itself has 4 bedrooms and a further versatile room which can serve as a bedroom, or additional communal space. An open plan kitchen, day room and sun lounge provide views from the lovely back garden, right through to the spectacular views from the front of the house, and has enough space for everybody to muck in with the food preparation! The gas/electric range cooker, double Belfast sink and stainless steel fridge/freezer in the very well equipped kitchen are all large enough to easily cope with catering for 7. A lot of thought has gone into the requirements of catering for a group, with a generous selection of crockery, cutlery, glasses and kitchen ware. (Also, a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, etc.)
A log burning stove, comfortable seating and a tv makes this area a superb gathering place. However, once the sun has set, the large and beautifully styled lounge, complete with another log burning stove, is the perfect place to wind down, watch a film, browse one of the many books, or gather round one of the board games - or how about tackling one of our bespoke jigsaws? Featuring some of our animals and scenes around Cowden, it becomes even more fun putting the pictures together!
Many of Cowden's guests barely leave the farm - finding the peace, privacy and chance to unwind gives them everything they're looking for in their holiday, but for those who wish to explore this beautiful part of the country, Cowden Farmhouse is in the perfect location for easy access to superb sandy beaches, varied hill walking, Royal Deeside, sporting pursuits and many popular tourist attractions and activities. For our younger visitors, there's a fantastic range of activities, from swimming in Stonehaven's famous outdoor pool, swinging through the trees at the 'Go Ape' adventure park at Crathes Castle, bouncing around at Aberdeen's Jump In' trampoline park, to visiting any one of the brilliant soft play centres.
