Measures in Place to comply with Covid-19 Guidelines
Fia Cottage has been cleaned and disinfected according to Government Guidelines. In addition to this we have put in place some extra measure so that you can be confident that everything possible is being done to minimise any risk of infection
Mattresses and all soft furnishings, that cannot be washed between guests, are sprayed with an EN14476 Virucidal Disinfectant. All duvets, pillows and cushion are removed from the cottage and isolated until the next changeover
All products normally left in the cottage for guest use, such as salt, pepper, various cooking items, tea, coffee, sugar, etc are removed and isolated until the next changeover. To achieve this we have doubled up on these items so that nothing is left in the cottage that the previous guests have been using, but you still have a basic range of items on your arrival
Fia Cottage was originally built in 1898 as a shop / post office to serve the local community. A telephone was installed around the early 1940s, one of the few phones in the area at the time. On 30th March 1942, during World War II, the phone was used to alert RAF Sumburgh that a bomber had been found crashed on nearby Fitful Head.
