Thanks for your interest in Taigh an Fasgaidh. We offer a beautifully presented cottage, a superb example of what a holiday home should be!
We are situated 5 miles from the village of Dornie (with shop and hotel / pubs) near Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye Bridge and above Loch Long, with lovely views of the water and the hills from our fenced grass garden which extends to two thirds of an acre.
Right off the beaten track, our cottage is one of the scattered dwellings in the tiny hamlet of Sallachy, which nestles between the loch and the magnificent mountains behind.
The interior is spacious and light with large, double glazed windows in all rooms. The main living area is open plan with hardwood floors and elegant furnishings throughout, not to mention the stunning loch views. There is also a wide screen TV for entertainment when the curtain of darkness finally descends on the show outside! The wonderful views can best be enjoyed, whatever the weather, from the delightful pine-lined sunroom at the front of the house.
The kitchen is large and very stylishly fitted and with the dining area just beyond it, separated by a bank of units, there will be no problem getting the food to the table in very short order! There is also a handy utility room with washing machine and tumble drier.
All on one level there are three spacious, well-furnished and very comfortable bedrooms, two doubles (one with king size bed) and one twin room. Both of the double rooms have a magnificent view of the loch – what a vista to wake up to! The very spacious bath room has a large walk-in shower and there is also an additional WC to supplement it.
Outside, the secure garden, which extends to two thirds of an acre, is extensive and well established with lots of mature shrubs and trees that shelter the house. The garden offers a wonderful vista out over Loch Long to the stunning mountains beyond. Gorgeous sunsets can be enjoyed and as there is very little light pollution the dark night skies are amazingly clear and perfect for stargazing and if you’re lucky, perhaps even the Northern Lights.
Birds visit the garden and there are often deer nearby as well as other wildlife to look out for including cheeky seals and otters out on the loch, and white-tailed sea eagles and golden eagles soaring in the skies above.
