A great place to visit at any time of the year, Ariundle is a treasure house of primitive plants, magnificent wildlife and stunning scenery.
NatureScot's peaceful Ariundle Oakwoods nature reserve is a rare surviving fragment of the native woodlands that once cloaked Europe's Atlantic coast. A lush covering of mosses, lichens and liverworts flourishes in this green haven, alongside a marvellous array of wildlife and insects, such as the rare Chequered Skipper butterfly and the northern Emerald Dragonfly. You might also be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some of Ariundle's more elusive residents- the pine martens, otters and wildcats.
Facilities include a woodland trail and a nature trail, as well as interpretation boards explaining the history, culture and wildlife of the area.
