Scotland is blessed with stunning scenery, and adventurous types can make the most of it with a spot of wild camping. If you're considering camping outwith designated campsites in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, you need to be aware of the following:
- Between March and September local byelaws are in place in some areas of the park and you will require a permit to wild camp or stay overnight in motorhomes in affected areas.
- As with the rest of Scotland, you'll need to follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code at all times.
- Choose your spot wisely, keeping away from enclosed fields of crops or animals and away from buildings or roads.
- If you have a vehicle with you, you may not be able to park it nearby if it impacts the local environment.
- Ensure you leave your pitch how you found it, and remove all litter.
- Lighting fires is also covered by the byelaws - if you plan to build one ensure it won't cause lasting damage and bring your own firewood rather than collecting in the park. Be aware that if an active fire risk warning is issued by the park authority, lighting a fire is forbidden.
