Get to Know Hazel - Manager of Flamingo Yacht Charters
Find out more about Hazel Pearson who runs a tight ship at Flamingo Yacht Charters. Let's find out what more she has to say about her sailing passion and what she's most looking forward to seeing and doing in Scotland.
Tell us a little bit more about yourself.
I have a strong background in tourism and marketing and have a degree in international business and modern languages. But sailing has always been my true passion and I'm at my happiest out on the waters of the Clyde. In 2017 I started managing Flamingo Yacht Charters.
How did you get started sailing?
I've been sailing on the Clyde from an early age. Thanks to years of family holidays and racing, I have a real in-depth knowledge of all the best anchorages, bays, wildlife and stunning scenic locations that Scotland's waters have to offer.
What do you love most about your job?
I enjoy my job as it's always interesting - there's never a dull day. We have a very efficient team of staff and are lucky to have a brilliant location with access to the amazing waters of the Clyde.
Our base at Largs Yacht Haven is a 5 Gold-Star marina and offers us easy access to some fantastic restaurants, shops and shoreside facilities.
I love nothing more than encouraging others to come and discover the joy of a sailing holiday or a yacht charter in Scotland. We have many customers who return year after year and it's hugely rewarding to introduce them to something new or recommend the perfect anchorage spot.
What are you looking forward to experiencing in Scotland?
I love the outdoors and am looking forward to spending some time with the family sailing the Clyde, with trips to Millport, the Kyles of Bute and Tarbert.
I'm also planning to go hiking in Glencoe and maybe have a wild camping trip somewhere like Torridon. I might even manage a weekend mountain biking on the Cowal Peninsula or at Glentress.
Do you have a favourite Scottish experience?
It would have to be sitting on a beach with a campfire crackling, watching the sun set over the Black Cuillin.
Anything else we should know?
A bareboat or skippered yacht charter is the ultimate staycation experience! It offers a holiday which delivers freedom, solitude, fresh air, enchanting wildlife, friendly locals, delicious whisky and so much more. We also provide a selection of shorter sailing experiences and day trips.
