    If you are a surfer, your beach honeymoon ideas will probably involve waves, waves and more waves. Luckily for you, Scotland has some of the best surfing spots in the UK around its shores.

    Belhaven Bay stretches from Belhaven to the north of the River Tyne in East Lothian. With stunning views across the Forth Estuary and regular waves, it is the ideal beach for surfing.   2. Isle of Tiree Inner Hebrides

    The Inner Hebrides are not only wild and beautiful, they are a hotspot for watersports like surfing. The Isle of Tiree is widely regarded as one of the best surfing spots in the UK, and it also holds the accolade of being one of the country's sunniest places. As the surf picks up, you and your partner will be able to ride the waves from dawn until dusk. This is also a great place to try windsurfing, kitesurfing and paddleboarding.     If you desire to be close to the water on your honeymoon, but not necessarily in it, then a coastal walking holiday could be just the getaway for you. Scotland has many spectacular coastal walks that combine rugged terrain with dramatic views. 

    Take a walking tour of Orkney and discover the ancient history of Scotland at a host of fascinating sites. From the Neolithic village of Skara Brae to the Ring of Brodgar, a grand stone circle, this part of Scotland is a treasure trove. Unwind in the Orcadian countryside or book a stay in the capital, Kirkwall, where you'll find lively restaurants and bars.

    Time your walk right and you could enjoy a romantic sunset together - you could even do it the other way around and watch the sunrise together! Or, for a unique beach honeymoon activity, why not take your trip to Scotland's coast up a gear and try out horse riding

    Romantic beach breaks are one thing, but what if you could hop on a boat and sail around Scotland's coastline? Now wouldn't that be romantic! This is your chance to see several remote honeymoon beach destinations in one trip. Whether you're experienced on the water or a novice sailor, Scotland's coasts and waters are the perfect place to take a sailing holiday.

    The tidal bay around Elie harbour provides the perfect location for a sailing holiday. Beginners and more experienced sailors will love it here, whether relaxing in a dinghy or heading off in a keelboat on a cruise along the River Forth. The sailing season is from mid-April to October. And is the perfect beach activity for couples celebrating their happily ever after.

    Skippered charters are a great way to see the country without having to sail the boat yourself. Bareboat charters allow you to organise your own itinerary. And of course, if you want to learn to sail there are plenty of places to do that too.

    Loch Ness is one of the largest and deepest expanses of water in the UK, and there is no better way to explore it than by boat. Honeymooners will find all kinds of things to see and do on the banks of the loch, and there's even a chance of spotting the world's shyest monster: Nessie

    With over 10,000 km of coastline and lochs and rivers galore, it's no surprise that Scotland is a great place for watersports. From adrenaline-fuelled pursuits like white water rafting and canyoning to more gentle activities like kayaking and diving, you'll find no shortage of options on your Scottish honeymoon.

    Oban is not only the gateway to the Isles, it is also Scotland's premier sea kayaking centre. From your base in Oban, you can paddle a kayak around the Scottish islands of Mull, Iona, Colonsay and more. Away from the water you can visit fascinating castles or stop in for a dram at Oban Distillery.

    The Fife Coastal path is a 183 km trail through the diverse landscapes of Fife and is perfect for a honeymoon break in Scotland. Spend some quiet time with your other half in the quaint fishing villages of the East Neuk or make a night of it in historic St Andrews. This route is packed with exciting things to see including ruined castles, nature reserves and former fishing villages.
