Bill and Daniele look forward to welcoming you to Curlew Cottage, plus free shepherds hut. The cottage sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms (one double and one twin room), and has a full height kitchen/dining /living area, utility room, and shower room with power shower. The double bedroom has double doors opening onto a patio where the shepherd's hut is located. The cottage is cosy and warm at all times of the year, with stone floors warmed by an external eco log boiler. The hut is heated by a log burning stove.
The cottage has been thoughtfully converted from the former cow byre, and retains much character whilst having plenty of home comforts to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable.
The cottage is located at Meadshaw Farm, where you will see our flock of rare breed hebridean sheep and our connemara ponies. It is located directly on the Roman and Reivers walking/cycling route which runs for miles, and there are plenty of waymarked walking and cycle routes to explore, taking in the local forest tracks, hills and quiet country lanes. The area is virtually traffic free, and you will hardly see another soul whilst out exploring. Bill and Daniele are on hand to offer advice on walks and places of interest.
The area around Hawick is rich in history, with the Abbeys of Melrose, Jedburgh, Kelso and Dryburgh being within easy reach. Hawick itself is known for its' woollen mill/cashmere industry, and there are plenty of shops and mills to look around if you want to sample the beautiful rugs, scarves and clothing on offer.
