The 9 cottages and 4 chalets available at Ellary are spread along the edge of Loch Caolisport, giving great views out over the loch. If you're looking for somewhere off the beaten track to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, then Ellary is the place for you!
Come and see the abundance of wildlife (otters, seals, deer and red squirrels being a few of our regular visitors - and the occasional eagle being spotted too!), take photos, walk for miles in the undisturbed countryside surrounding the cottages. Discover beaches, lochs, and the abandoned village of Stronefield. Head over the hill to Castle Sween, Kilmory Chapel and Kilmory beach - watch a sunset from here, as the views of the sun setting over Jura are quite spectacular. Play golf at Ellary on the practice course - free of charge, and the whole family is welcome to have a shot. Go down to the harbour and spot the sea urchins and starfish lurking beside the deep water mooring. Scour the rockpools for crabs - or if you're feeling adventurous, bring your snorkel and you will spot scallops, sea urchins, lobsters and squid slightly further out.
Bring the kayaks - you are welcome to launch from any of the beaches around the estate, or if you own a bigger boat, bring that too - you are welcome to use the private harbour for mooring. Be sure to bring the camera and binoculars, as you will no doubt find yourself using them daily!
Make Ellary your destination this year, and make it a year to remember! We welcome family groups & couples only - no stag/hen dos etc, so you can be assured of a great stay.
We are dog friendly, with the first dog staying for free, and the second being charged at £15 per week (normally a maximum of 2 per cottage).
We are half an hour from the nearest shops/restaurants etc, and just over half an hour to an hour from all the ferries to the islands (Islay, Arran, Gigha, etc). Oban is just under an hour and a half to the north - and you can get the ferry to Mull and the Outer Hebrides from here. Inveraray is under an hour away, and is great for rainy days, with quite a few attractions. Glasgow is about two and a half hours away.
The cottages (and one of the chalets) all have washing machines, and are well equipped with all the utensils, crockery, etc that you will need. All but one of the cottages have open fires, and you're welcome to use any fallen wood you find around the estate on them. Coal is also available at cost price from the office.
We have got brochures available - just send us your name and address is you would like one sent out.
We can take online bookings via our website, and if you like our Facebook page, you will be able to see the most recent news from around the estate - search Ellaryholidaycottages.
