Gardenrose Bed and Breakfast is a luxury Arts & Crafts house with 2 large, luxury, en-suite rooms. The house was built in 1911 and designed by a local architect, Thomas Jack, who also designed the house next door and Straiton village hall.
We are situated on a hill overlooking the small town of Maybole and have great views across the valley. The house retains many of the original features that are reminiscent of the Glasgow School and Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Stay at Gardenrose B&B in our Glasgow Room and visit the many Charles Rennie Mackintosh buildings and exhibitions in Glasgow. The House for an Art Lover is an excellent place to visit and it also serves a delicious lunch. There is also the Hunterian Museum and Kelvingrove Art Gallery, to mention just a few. The Hill House in Helensburgh is also another beautiful Mackintosh original house that is well worth a visit, although it is under repair at the moment and shrowded in a protective housing.
If you enjoy drinking, or learning about, whisky then the Whisky Experience in Kirkoswald is only 4 miles away and an excellent choice.
We are only 150 metres from the station and on the local bus route to Ayr, Girvan, and other nearby villages.
Culzean Castle and Country Park is only 4 miles away and the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum is about 6 miles. Dumfries House is about a 30 minute drive away. The popular wedding venues of Dalduff Barn and Blairquhan are a short distance away. Turnberry golf course is close by, as are many other world class courses.
The Ayrshire coast is a short drive away and there are many wonderful views from the vantage points along the road. Boat trips to the island of Ailsa Craig are available from Girvan. If a visit to the Isle of Arran is what takes your fancy then there are regular ferry crossings from Ardrossan whish is only a 40 minute drive away. For the more ambitious travellers there is the opportunity for a day trip to Belfast from Cairnryan which is also about 40 minutes away.
