When staying at Herrislea House Shetland, you can enjoy the fresh, rugged landscape, blaze your own trail and explore our heritage.
In summer there is no darkness, you never need to stop! and when you can go no further, tumble back home for a warm hot chocolate or spoil yourself in the period ambience of our guest lounge with fine teas in beautiful china, crystal clear Shetland Gins, a dram from our fine malt whisky selection or enjoy a refreshing Shetland beer.
We have 9 individually designed en suite rooms, each one with its own décor.
All rooms are non-smoking, each has good wifi access and a mini bar with the usual TV, coffee/tea, telephone.
Hair dryers and irons are also available.
Facilities includes plenty free parking. We are fully licensed and have a comfortable lounge for guests to relax in.
Breakfasts at Herrislea - Free full breakfast included. After a deep restfull sleep wake to the Shetland Country Air and a feast of local produce awaits you at breakfast in our dining room. Taste Our Best and enjoy some of Shetlands finest local produce prepared for you with care and passion.
We will not serve dinner from August 12th through to 20th September 2020 but will have a member of staff available who can collect you from Lerwick or Scalloway after dinner if you require or can collect dinner for you. We're also happy to provide packed lunches.
Local Product Suppliers
Our main supplier is Scalloway Meat Co who have supplied us since before our time in Herrislea and for over 30 years in perfect harmony. They specialise in supplying local meat and also supply us with dry goods and fruit and veg. They are good at sourcing local products and go the extra mile to offer the complete service, delivering every day except Sunday, making it easier for us to control waste and offer our guests fresh produce.
Blydoit Fish Shop supplies our seafood, we have a great relationship with them and our guests have been known to go for a visit and choose their own specially chilled pack of goodies to take back home with them Blydoit have their own fishing vessel and buy in the market everyday ensuring our guests enjoy the freshest of produce all caught from the seas around Shetland.
We also have a twice weekly delivery of the famous Unst Brew from Hughson Bros and can offer an extensive range of malt whisky and fine wines from Gordon and MacPhail in Elgin.
Around and About Herrislea
Tingwall Valley is the site of the ancient Viking Parliament or ‘Ting’, situated on a Holm in the Tingwall Loch which is also full of Brown Trout. Tingwall has its own 9 hole golf course and Shetland full golf course is just a mile away a mile on the other side of the hotel. Down the valley is the ancient Scalloway castle of Earl Patrick Stewart, who enslaved the local population to build his seat. There is also a wonderful small museum next to the castle and much more to do during you visit to Shetland. 17 minutes away there are riding lessons & horse trekking with Icelandic horses.
