Anvil and Horseshoe cottages are in Oldshoremore, two miles beyond Kinlochbervie. They offer comfortable and well-equipped self-catering accommodation. Horseshoe will sleep a family of five; Anvil six. Each has a fridge-freezer, washing machine, tumble-dryer, cooker, slow cooker and microwave, and gas central heating. There is a good selection of books, and no television. Each has a lounge, kitchen-diner, three bedrooms and a bathroom. Anvil also has a separate shower room/w.c. and a utility room; and is “disabled-friendly”. Accommodation is single-storey, and each cottage has its own enclosed garden. There is ample adjacent parking space. The wonderful Oldshoremore beach is 15-20 minutes walk across the machair or three minutes by car. The area is great for bird-watching. We have an excellent nature resource centre, between the cottages, for the private use of guests, with a comprehensive range of books and other material on birds, animals, flowers, geology, seashore life etc.
Kinlochbervie has shops, a hotel/restaurant, a fishing harbour and a chandlery where fishing permits can be obtained. The spectacular Sandwood bay is a couple of hours’ walk along a track. There are three beautiful beaches nearby, and the area offers superb coastal and hill walking.
Dilys and Michael, the owners, live opposite, We also run the adjoining croft, with north country Cheviot sheep, and will be happy to tell you about the joys and challenges of sheep-farming if you are interested!
