Once the schoolhouse for the scattered little community of Glendaruel, between Strachur and Colintraive in Argyll, this light and spacious cottage has been quite spectacularly renovated to create a unique and sublimely comfortable holiday home.
In a large grass garden (furniture, barbecue, summer house) and with wonderful views up and down the valley it is nonetheless the interior which will really wow you. The huge open plan living area has one wall completely of glass with two bedrooms off (one with stove and en suite loo,) and stairs lead to a gallery providing a further seating area, off which are a twin bedroom and elegant bathroom.
The Cowal Way passes close by, affording superb walking in the surrounding woods and hills. From Colintraive you can take the ferry to Bute, from Portavadie you can sail over to Tarbert, or you can visit picturesque Tighnabruaich, a famous yachting haven, where there is also a golf course.
