Heated throughout using a renewable heat source, the electricity for the Cottage is supplied by our own wind turbines, with all surplus electricity fed back to the National Grid. We enjoy our own water supply, from our hill.
The Cottage is well positioned to enjoy a peaceful break, in addition to having easy access to Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh where many guests have enjoyed the annual Edinburgh Festival and Book Festivals and trips to Murrayfield, the heart of Scottish Rugby. Walking, watersports, cycling, mountain biking, shopping and dining are all within easy reach, and there are lots of lovely Borders towns with many independent shopping options and places of historical interest to visit nearby.
Locally, the Biggar Science Festival each September and 'Biggar Little Festival' each October have proved very popular for guests, as has our local agricultural show every July. On New Years Eve, the 'Biggar Bonfire' provides an amazing spectacle for all to enjoy at the end of every year and to welcome in the start of the New Year.
In light of the 2020 global Covid-19 Pandemic, we have carefully carried out a risk assessment for the Cottage and have put in place strict new cleaning protocols, in line with Government Guidelines and followed the advice of the Association of Scottish Self Caterers.
We have completed an accredited training course, to fully prepare us for the new cleaning protocols and have also achieved our "Good to Go" certificate from Visit Scotland, ensuring the safety of our Guests and our small team.
